Mindfulness in motion
July was a fallow month on the knitting front and I had lots of niggles running through my head. Putting the two together I believe if I had been doing more knitting I may have had less niggles???
I have made a concerted effort this month to do some knitting.
I am making a jumper. I have made this before (see my first post “a fresh start“) but it is quite a straight forward pattern, nothing too complicated π And at the end I will have a jumper for work in the winter π
Focusing on the rhythm of knit a row purl a row and then the routines of the cables is very soothing and I am noticing the difference at night, I am not going over those niggly little problems when I should be sleeping π°
However on the down side it is so damn hot at the moment! I am keeping above knitting wrapped up in an old towel (one from the rag bag, destined to be cut up for dusters) and I have to keep wiping the sweat off my hands on it. Knitting really isn’t a summer occupation!
I have also spent time sat by my leggy lavender whose scent is very soothing. I always associated lavender with old ladies. I have this rather neglected plant in the garden to attract bees but I am really appreciating it this year – will treat to some tlc at the end of the season π€
Anyway back to knit a row, wipe sweat off hands, purl a row…
Woolly wishes,

That’s why my summer knitting is small, cotton or linen, or done on cooler days! Even that last pair of socks I had to put aside on the really humid days, when my hands got too sticky – and socks are the (my) definition of small.

I chose an easy pattern but sadly there is lots of it π

Cooling the wrists seems to help – maybe knit some cotton wristers and keep them damp? I think I’ll have to try that!

Do you have a portable fan that you can use where you knit? This works very well for me.

The fan is circulating warm air at the moment, it is so hot over here π

What’s the pattern for the sweater? It looks interesting.
I am crocheting a cardigan but thankfully have managed to work on it without getting too hot.

The pattern is a Debbie Bliss Guernsey that I found in a zprima magazine.
I envy you being able to get on un- hindered. I am a real Sweaty Betty π

It is so nice to have something that relaxes your mind at night! Iβm afraid my crochet doesnβt always do the trick.

That’s why I have gone for a repetitive, not too taxing pattern π

I hope your sweater turns out great and I’m sure it’ll come in handy when it gets cold. Looks lovely
