STASH-BUSTING IN 2021 #18

Swatching. ..

My next big project is going to be a crocheted throw for Lucia the camper. Now I’m not a natural hooker but I would much prefer to do something in one piece and I don’t think I have knitting needles long enough to hold all the stitches that I need πŸ€”

So I have been experimenting with stitch combos

As can be seen these haven’t been blocked but I’m just practising the hook movements. I quite like the trebles with the raised circles but think that might be a bit ambitious plus my maths may not be up to the task of working out the spacing evenly. I really got my knickers in a twist with the basket weave stitch but thought I could manage the chevron.

Obviously that is only a tiny chevron so ta dah

A bee kindly obliged and visited the clematis while I was taking this snap. I returned the favour and waited until he had finished before removing my chevrons!

I have done a few rows to give me an idea of stitches/width and blocked it. So my throw is going to be all ziggy and zaggyπŸ˜‰

Woolly wishes,

  1. if you have a Lidl near you, I suggest you keep your eyes open because they often have circular knitting needles which would solve your problem of wanting to knit a blanket without it falling off straight needles ^^
Love the colour of the future crocheted blanket!

  2. that looks great!! I agree with you about the circles, they look fun, but might be a little tedious over time – the chevron seems to be a lot faster. Have fun! πŸ™‚

  3. Oooh I like that and what a good idea about the tassels! Good luck and enjoy. it will look great in Lucia. I’m still off the hooks and needles – I may try a small swatch at the end of this month – I am missing it so much! πŸ™‚

  4. They look great. I taught myself to crochet when my kids were little. I still have a bunch of half finished blankets…I get bored after a while and want to try something new. Someday maybe I will just finish them. There are actually a few that I don’t know what the stitch pattern was!

  5. If you have yarn but not sure how far it will go a corner to corner blanket is good. Weigh the yarn – divide in half. Increase with the first half – decrease with the rest. Lots of YouTube videos out there but I used the Crochet Crowd one that covers both U.K. and U.S. terms.

Look forward to seeing this finished πŸ’›
