SELF-HELP #24

The power of nature 🌨🌨🌨

The river is very high

The fence is nearly completely submerged!

I dragged this out yesterday afternoon, not because I am particularly fond of it or the old wood inside it but if it floats away over the fence it will be a piece of single-use plastic further down the river!

The river breached the flood defences the other night and neighbours round the corner have been evacuated!

I am cheering myself up by packing my gift for the baby shower on Saturday β™‘β™‘β™‘

Apparently there could be another 10 days of this β˜”β˜”β˜”

STASH-BUSTING #22

A knitting disaster!

A few posts ago I shared a pair of red ridged mittens which I was quite pleased with 😊

I decided to make the hat to match and here it is:-

The rolls on my neck match the ridges on the hat……

It seems rather large but the pattern says that it should fit an average adult head, and I thought my head was bigger than average!

It looks like something one of the seven dwarves might wear!!!

I have tried wearing it in a slouchy way but it keeps falling down. I am not happy with it so time for a bit of frogging 🐸🐸🐸

WIP winning πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…

My week off started today. My plan was to make a start clearing up the mess in the garden but it has rained all morning and I am a fair weather gardener!!! However, I am glad I didn’t make a start as the river is rising again and guess what it is in the garden again 😣 really is getting rather boring…

So to keep myself amused I dug out a baby blanket that I keep listing on my WIP list but do nothing about. I think it last appeared on my blog in the autumn. Anyway celebration time 🍻🍻🍻 I have just finished it 🎈🎈🎈

Rhubarb and custard baby blanket β™‘

Feeling quite pleased that it is done but I am already thinking about colour combos for another one…

If the weather continues like this I will have no WIPs left or maybe that is just a bit of wishful thinking on my part πŸ€”

Trying to keep dry β˜”β˜”β˜”

And now the clear up 🚿🚿🚿

The river is going down but the flood defences have been kept up as more water is expected from Wales πŸŒͺπŸŒͺπŸŒͺ

The swans are no longer racing down the river at 100mph…

I will start the clear up in the garden on Monday – the perfect way to spend my annual leave πŸ€”

But there are signs of Spring 😊

Doubt the bulbs I planted on the other side of the fence have done so well???

I will console myself with a bit of knitting.

And still rising 🌨🌨🌨

I have never been keen on the name Dennis but gone off it even more since they have named a storm with it.

The river has risen again! !!

I have got a bit of clearing up to do when it goes down 😣

And the river is still rising. Happily the house is quite high up and there are good flood defences here but my heart goes out to those who aren’t as lucky as us.

Keeping warm and dryβ˜”

Baby Guernsey finished  🎁

My sister is off to visit baby O on Tuesday so I have had to finish the baby Guernsey that I have been on about for weeks…

All stitched up!

I love the therapeutic action of knitting and keeping to a pattern but hate the tedium of blocking and sewing up so have a nasty habit of just leaving it πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

Ready to wrap up!

So will brave the weather πŸŒͺβ˜”πŸŒͺ and pop it round later.

Woolly wishes,

Not doing very well πŸ˜•

Back in January I made a few lists of things I intended to get done in 2020 and all of my intentions were craft related. And so far I am quite pleased with my progress – I am plodding along quite nicely!

I decided back at the time that I was not going to set up myself up to fail by proposing weight loss or lots of exercise. So I have done very little in my free time other than woolly pursuits πŸ˜ƒ

Now that the days are getting longer I am planning my walking regime and to get back in the garden – but not today as it is horribly windy out there🌬🌬🌬

And I really need to be doing something as my stash busting has hit a snag!!! Aldi have had a craft event, I thought I would pop in and just have a look! I came out with a bag full…. I have picked up a couple of kits and more yarn. The stash has grown! And I have added something else to the WIP list πŸ€”

A cowl using the cake of ombre yarn from my new Aldi stash…

Lost in woolliness?

Hearts and roses 🌹❀🌹

With Valentine’s Day coming up I have made some red mittens.

Never get on very well taking pictures one-handed!

50gr of red stash yarn 🎈🎈🎈

Just need to get a manicure so that my hands show them off appropriately πŸ˜†

Anyone else got any Valentine’s Day projects on the go?

Woolly wishes,

For a little boy and a little girl β™‘β™‘β™‘

Baby booties ready for my gifting commitments in February.

This year I am planning to do a round up at the end of each month. I will have a few items to show at the end of January 😊 Admittedly they are for tiny people so don’t take much knitting but hey ho!!!
