Another winter walk…
We had hail this morning which was a worry as I had to drive later in the day but it didn’t amount to much happily🌊
I just had a stroll into Bewdley today and a mooch around Jubilee Gardens.
The apple Orchard is having its winter rest.
How’s that for a giant apple core? Someone has had fun with a chain saw😉
I have never really spent much time in Jubilee Gardens, after all I have a garden why would I want to spend time in a public garden!!! But like many I am sure it is nice to have some different views. I will share my favourite spot in the Gardens for tomorrow.
So it was off home afterwards to make a pot of soup with whatever I could find in the fridge and some cheesy slaw, made with red cabbage. Looks a bit of an eye sore but really tasty.
No time for knitting today as off to work.

WOOLLY WEDNESDAY 
We went out for a walk today, too – it’s so good if you can go, even if the sun isn’t out. The statue is super cool! I needed a few moments to realise what it was, but it looks fantastic, there is so much detail! Do you happen to know who made it? Was it a local artist?

I’m sure the artist would be local. Couldn’t find a plaque, possibly something in museum grounds but that is closed for the moment. My fault for not taking more interest in my local area sooner 😃

!! I googled! Look what I found! https://www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/news/2017-news/june-2017/wooden-sculptures-for-local-parks.aspx It’s the trust themselves, apparently, and they make the sculptures out of trees … might not be those, but at least you know whre the hare statue is from. 😉

I know they have been made from the stumps of trees that have been cut down. A few years ago I watched a man and a chainsaw carve a salt worker in a park in Droitwich (not far from here). It was really impressive ❤️

What a splendid carving. It’s really quite amazing and done with such skill. I’ve seen quite a few chain saw pieces (I’m making a presumption here) but none quite as well done as that. Though I’m surprised that it’s an apple not a pear for Worcestershire. 😀

It is fab isn’t it and it could quite possibly be a pear. The orchard is a mixture of local apple and pear varieties 🍏🍐

Nice to hear you went out for a walk. It can get difficult in the cold months to drag yourself outside …. or maybe that’s just me! Lovely sculpture. I often wonder how it might feel to be wealding a chainsaw and making tree art like that – my limit is attacking a hedge with a hedgetrimmer and still being slight freaked out it might jump back at me and have a life of it’s own!

I think I would do a lot of damage with a chainsaw. I’m only trusted with secateurs on the hedge. Didn’t get out today because of work 😒

Yes, I imagine a chainsaw would be scarily difficult to use! The electric hedge trimmer was scary at first. The second time I used it I cut through the cable, luckily it’s a safety one so it just powered down. I called out to my husband that I had cut through it yet he didn’t believe me as he presumed I would be dead! After convincing him it was really still me and I wasn’t a ghost – ha ha – he fixed the cable and said it might be something I wasn’t so good at after all. Then he attacked the same hedge himself and cut the cable himself! We had to laugh!!

I have an old fly mo and I have lost count of the number of cables I have replaced because I keep running over them. Always wear rubber boots just to be on the safe side 😂
