My kind of morning π

I took the day off work today and signed up for a macrame workshop. Some of you may remember my feeble attempt at macrame a couple of years ago… But I am quite proud of my efforts today and have a pretty bookmark to show for my efforts.
The workshop was run by Louise from Lilly Dilly’s and was held at Bodenham Arboretum. Louise talked us through making the bookmark and showed us how to do the individual knots against the backdrop of the lake and the sound of the ducks quacking. A very productive yet relaxing morningβ€

VERY NICE! ( many years ago – before kids-I ‘self-taught’ macrame; made lots of jewelry & sold it . . . shades of the late ’70’s!). It’s another relaxing hobby – GOOD JOB!

Thank you Pammie. It’s a retro craft that has made quite a come back. I still prefer the security of my knitting needles though π

oh that is so cool!! I remember that my parents owned a few plant holders/hangers(?) made with that technique and they must hae developed a bit of a love-hate-relationship with it (especially the owl π ), but I think it’s such a pretty technique!

Thank you Julia. It was everywhere when I was young in the 70s. And yes I remember the plant pot holders and dead plants that adorned them!!! But it is very pretty so glad it’s coming back π

Yes, me, too!!! (My parents’ plant got killed by their cat who used it as a kitty swing)

Cute. I guess that’s a lesson to us all to never give up – 2nd try was a success for you! Well done.

Thank you but I think it had a lot to do with being talked through each stage π

That is really pretty!! I once managed to make something with macrame but it was not nearly that intricate. That bookmark is awesome.

Thank you. All down to the tuition but intend having another go. I think it will make a nice gift for my bookish friends β€οΈ

I can remember my Mum getting very much into macrame (would have been back in the 70s, like you say) lol. I find the end results very pleasing to look at, but it’s not a craft I’m tempted to try . . . for now, at least ^^

The results are very pretty but must say I am more confident with my needles π

It’s nice to know that people still read real books, instead of tablets and kindle.
