LKKNITALONG PROGRESS

Progress may be a strong word?

So part 3 of the Let’s Knit nautical blanket became available at the beginning of July and part 4 is out on Thursday. I have nearly completed the blocks from the first and second release…

I am still behind and in need of a spurge of energy or something to catch up πŸ€”

I am quite pleased with my blocks so far although my colour block still curls a bit at the edges πŸ˜‰

I could say it was breezy when I took the photo 🌬 but I would be lying. My colourwork is always a bit tight πŸ˜‹

Hoping that you are all having a restful Sunday.

STASH-BUSTING #34

Well this isn’t going to use up the stash…..

I have been something of a lazy moo, neglecting my blog and all things woolly. No dent in the stash I am afraidπŸ˜₯ however, it has only grown by this much ‡

It was a free gift so not sure if that should really count πŸ€”

I have completed the honeycomb rim beanie

It makes for a very warm head so possibly only suitable for those really icy winter days β›„

Not much to show for the weeks that I have been AWOL! And what have I been doing? Well work has taken up a large chunk of my time and I have to admit to being hooked on Celebrity Masterchef – I will not be showing off my culinary disasters here you will be relieved to hear 😊

Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.

Woolly wishes,

JUNE ROUND-UP 😷

Better late than never….

This is a rather tardy June round-up and will be rather short as I didn’t get up to much last month.

Work sort of took over last month and the sheer quantity got a bit overwhelming. The care and all the extra cleaning are ok but the constant bombardment of paperwork was a bit much. Hopefully things will be better this month.

Not much on the knitting front!!!

– a baby cardi

– LKKNITALONG (ongoing)

– Wally the Whale 🐳

I have been dabbling with patchwork as well.

Here’s to a more creative July.

DUCKING AND DIVING!!!

Taking a break from the needles…

On Tuesday night my neighbour and I helped to feed the local river bird population. And my are they a greedy lotπŸ˜…

The scramble for the seed

The man who normally does it was unable to do any lifting and as they eat a big sack of seed that was a problem πŸ€” No one wants to see hungry ducks!!! So we trollied the sack to the river and got on with feeding them.

Not a grain left

A great way to spend a summer evening. Not sure as I would fancy it in the winter though!

SELF-HELP # 34

Toning it down…

Lock down is easing but hair dressers are not back yet. My roots were appalling and the fiery red had faded somewhat in the sunshine so I have had another go at my hair.

Quite pleased with the results. The same can’t be said for my face. Far too much sunshine has made me quite red and blotchy!!!

I have decided to have a go at making a patchwork quilt for N’s granddaughter but as I haven’t really done anything like this in a very long time I have had a practice on a cheap fat quarter picked up at Aldi, reduced so it really was cheap.

My efforts so far. A bit of pressing and stretching will be required to make them match πŸ˜‚

And yay I have strawberries in the garden

Woolly wishes to you all,

Jane β™‘β™‘β™‘

STASH-BUSTING #33

Having a whale of a time 🐳

I have completed one of my Aldi kits, still loads to do…. Meet Wally the Whale.

The box said make a friend which doesn’t say much for my social circle. He is a bit lumpy – I am not a great toy maker and have never really got the hang of stuffing.

But for Β£3.99 he is quite cute and kept my needles busy for a few hours πŸ‹

LK KAL

Ahoy there, here we go….

Progress so far!

Progress on the Let’s Knit knitalong

2 x Trellis shell (natural)

1x windmill (blue)

1 x easy scallop (blue)

Hallelujah I have completed the 2 trellis shell squares. Even though I completed a practice square (after numerous attempts) on old yarn I still had to do a lot of unpicking with the correct yarn.

So it is a six part project I have another windmill and another easy scallop to do as well as 2 waves and stripes, using colourwork.

Hoping to improve my skills but still not warming to lacework!! And not looking forward to the blocking at the end πŸ˜”

STASH-BUSTING #32

Baby woolly…

I have been working on the above for what seems like forever but in fact only since the end of April. It is for my partner’s granddaughter who we still haven’t met but he does get a daily photo – thank heaven for social media!!!

Anyway I am doing another one but reversing the colours, blue cardi with pink trim. Will get a crack on because, although they are to wear in the Autumn I think I will have to post them. The little one will be walking and talking before we get to meet her πŸ˜‚

Hoping that your projects are moving faster than mine?

Woolly wishes,

Jane β™‘β™‘β™‘

My first anniversary

Happy Blog Day to me πŸŽ‚

WordPress congratulated me on Thursday as that was the day I first signed up with them but my first actual post on Woolly Wednesday was a year ago today.

I had lofty ambitions of clearing through the stash but it seems to be bigger than ever.

I have faced floods and pestilence but I still have my knitting needles to hand.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read the drivel that I write.

And may I say what a pleasure it is to read your posts and what a talented lot you all are.

Here’s to the next year 🍷

Woolly wishes,

MAY ROUND-UP 🌈

These boots were made for walking πŸ₯Ύ

May has been and gone and what a scorcher! Another busy month at work. Lots of walks with clients, ensuring that they exercise but social distance as well!

Caldwell Bridge

Walking is great but I could do with it being a little cooler. However, I am sure I will be moaning when I am still having to go out walking and it is hammering down with rain πŸ€”

I sent 3 incubator blankets off to the warm baby project and received a lovely reply but they currently have enough knitwear so I will need to find something else to occupy my needles.

I decided to join the LKknitalong and did a couple of practice squares with yarn from my stash. I bought the correct yarn from LoveCrafts. It was so lovely I spent a week just admiring my purchase but I have finally done a trellis shell Square in the merino yarn. It needs a bit of blocking but quite pleased with myself. Three more squares to do! And the next patterns are available on Thursday πŸ€—

Looking forward to a bit of rain during June in the hope of reviving the dust bowl that is my garden.

Hoping everyone is keeping safe now that the lockdown is easing 🌈

Woolly wishes,
