Working my way through my lists…

I have baby gifts to make for February. A little boy who will be a couple of months old mid month when my sister goes to visit and I have been invited to a Baby Shower at the end of the month, the expected baby is a little girl.

I have started making a little Guernsey style jersey for the little boy (a very Channel Island inspired sentence).

*Front and back done!* One sleeve complete, the other on the way.

I am quite pleased because this is yarn from my stash. I am always picking up baby wool because you never know when you might need it but a little goes a long way when you are making cute little baby things.

Now I should be throwing a party using up some of my stash 🎈🎈🎈 but it was my birthday last week and those lovely people at Hobbycraft sent me a £5 voucher so I had to pop in to spend it. I bought a couple of balls of end of line aran wool which I will make some hats with for next year’s Christmas stall. My purchase came to £13 so their marketing ploy worked!!!

STASH-BUSTING #9

Knit one, purl one…

I have completed a baby Guernsey so I am feeling quite virtuous – always good to finish something, just needs a bit of a press, then need to work out what I am going to do with it ♡

The rest of my time has been spent making little hats for the big knit. They are such a good way of using up bits of yarn and so quick to do ♡♡♡

I get that buzz of having finished something every time I finish one and I can make four or five in a day. How good is that?

Booties and bunting ♡♡♡

An exhausting morning spent running errands and pulling up nettle roots..

A much nicer afternoon using up a few ends of yarn. I have made some baby bunting, it needs to be bigger for grown-up but these little triangles are still quite cute 😙

I have finished the booties that were on the WIP list as well so a well deserved glass of early evening wine🍷

STASH-BUSTING #7

Teeny-tiny ♡♡♡

Not a great deal to show for my dabbling with needles and hooks this week. I have used up some ends of colour lots on these tiny cardies. I will take them to my local knit and natter group on Monday to pass on to the premature baby unit.

The funny little rocket is a children’s craft project at my local museum. I popped in with a colleague yesterday and we asked if we could have a go they were so sweet. So we have both painted a rocket tea-light holder. I plan to put mine in the garden but not until the bad winds have stopped. I don’t want it being blown over and broken! We spent the afternoon making pom poms, sadly I left them with her so don’t have any pictures to share.

A very childish day I know but fun ☆☆☆

Stash-busting #4

Those unfinished projects…

Digging through a stash bag I have found a number of WIPs that have been long forgotten. I have already photographed a couple but here is the story behind them.

A couple of weeks ago I was showing off some baby booties and mitts that I had made using some oddments of pink yarn. Sadly I found the unfinished baby blanket that it came from. However there was also a jersey, again unfinished, that I had been using the same yarn on. I finished the jersey.

And happily there was some yarn left. I only had a border to finish on the blanket so I used the remnants of the jersey yarn.

Having held it up in natural light I cannot see a discernible difference in the colour so I must have bought the yarn at the same time because the dye seems to match… Phew!!

The little jersey I am going to give to the little girl who was the recipient of the booties and mitts. The blanket will be kept until needed. I did wonder about making another one in blue, just in case but that would mean buying more wool.

I have dug out some half-finished socks and some mittens which are next on my to do list. Happily I haven’t been dipping into the yarn this time ♡♡♡

Self-help #3

A sunny day!

The sun is out today, it feels like the first time this year. A little sunshine really gives me a lift.

Managed to get a handful of strawberries out of my garden for my breakfast. They taste so much nicer straight off the plant. I have not enjoyed this treat often this year due to the rain. Strawberries and kitchen herbs are the only foods I grow in my garden.

Yoga this morning. A few sun salutations, I hope they work and the good weather continues. I always feel ready to take on the world after practice. Head clear and body tingling.

I am also feeling uplifted from giving. I have woven in the ends of the baby blanket and packed it up with the booties and mitts and passed it on to a friend who has just had a beautiful little girl. There is a lot to be said about the power of gifting.

So back to my stash to work my way through my clutter.

STASH-BUSTING #2

Small and cute

I cannot remember what I bought this wool for originally, something for a baby I am sure. Anyway I had just enough to make these little mitts and booties. Quite literally just enough!! I had to use cut off ends for sewing up.

So all ready for the next little girl and a little less in my stash…
