rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb…

Looks like the rhubarb needs pulling! Crumble or tart that is the question? But definitely something that goes with custardπ
Woolly wishes,

Stormy more than spooky…
The month has been windswept and interesting. Quite productive on the home made front.
N has been busy preserving and he has presented me with the little mug this morning, claiming that my friends from the coven left it – cheeky so and so!!!
But look what it does when you make a cup of tea in it
I am easily entertained…
I am planning making pumpkin and chilli soup this afternoon. My lovely dad has been keeping busy growing veg so it would be rude not to use themπ
On the knitting front I have completed all of the parts of the chunky cardi so looks like I will start November putting it together. The knotty cowl is coming along, about another 12 inches to go and then all of those delightful ends to work in π₯ And I have just got 5 squares to complete the KAL well behind everyone else but I am getting there!
Planning my Christmas knitting list, it will be a thrifty homemade festival this year but need to get a crack on as most will need to posted as no big get together this year π·
Woolly wishes,

More artwork…
N has found his red felt tip.
The ketchup is labelled π
He has been very busy and what treats we have in store this winter.
Back to woolliness in my next post but I am impressed with N’s efforts so wanted to show them off π
Woolly wishes,

The fruits of the garden π
Back in March at the start of Lockdown some tomato seeds were planted as part of B’s Lockdown Science work for school. B looked after them on the windowsill until his teacher moved on to something else. They probably spent too long on the windowsill but finally they were planted out in pots, grow bags and planters. It’s incredible how many plants you get out of a pack of seeds!!!
They have been cared for over the summer, certainly better than I have been cared for, and then we had a glut of tomatoes. We have been eating tomato salad with most things. Recently we have been ripening tomatoes on the windowsill – back to where they started π
N has been busy in the kitchen and with a dollop of green tomatoes that we couldn’t possibly find room to leave to ripen he has made some chutney. He has also hoovered up a lot of them and made some ketchup π
We have 2 jars of green tomato chutney left, it is quite tasty with a bit of cheese. We have not scoffed the lot I hasten to add, several jars have been gifted! N got his felt tips out and made pretty labels. Still waiting for labels for the jars of ketchup π€
All of our tomatoes have been used and N is trying to nurture some seed for next year; here’s hoping π
Nothing woolly in this past but woolly wishes anyway,

Toning it down…
Lock down is easing but hair dressers are not back yet. My roots were appalling and the fiery red had faded somewhat in the sunshine so I have had another go at my hair.
Quite pleased with the results. The same can’t be said for my face. Far too much sunshine has made me quite red and blotchy!!!
I have decided to have a go at making a patchwork quilt for N’s granddaughter but as I haven’t really done anything like this in a very long time I have had a practice on a cheap fat quarter picked up at Aldi, reduced so it really was cheap.
My efforts so far. A bit of pressing and stretching will be required to make them match π
And yay I have strawberries in the garden
Woolly wishes to you all,
Jane β‘β‘β‘
Who would have thought that I would get 30 posts out of my stash?
Still knitting for the warm baby project.
I posted 12 little hats last month and have since been on incubator blankets.
That is one check effect (blue, in the middle) completed, another check effect half complete (yellow) and a ladder effect half complete (again in blue). I got bored with the check effect which is why I now have 2 on the go – attention span of a gnat.
I have also been making little hearts with the intention of making another heart garland but I keep giving individual ones away with a little message attached so my second garland is a long way off π€
The garden is starting to look a bit tidier and starting to fruit. I usually do quite well for strawberries (touch wood) but the birds always manage to scoff the cherries, perhaps the chicken should be guarding the Cherry Tree?
Hope things are fruitful with you all,
Woolly wishes,
Jane β‘β‘β‘
A sunny day!
The sun is out today, it feels like the first time this year. A little sunshine really gives me a lift.
Managed to get a handful of strawberries out of my garden for my breakfast. They taste so much nicer straight off the plant. I have not enjoyed this treat often this year due to the rain. Strawberries and kitchen herbs are the only foods I grow in my garden.
Yoga this morning. A few sun salutations, I hope they work and the good weather continues. I always feel ready to take on the world after practice. Head clear and body tingling.
I am also feeling uplifted from giving. I have woven in the ends of the baby blanket and packed it up with the booties and mitts and passed it on to a friend who has just had a beautiful little girl. There is a lot to be said about the power of gifting.
So back to my stash to work my way through my clutter.
