We have come into Wales for a few days break. I had been counting the days since the end of July, not sure if restrictions would be tightened again but here we are. The cottage overlooks an estuary which fills up with water twice a day.
I haven’t been locked up but these are the views from the balcony where I have found a cosy spot to sit and do my knitting. Breathtaking π
So back to the powder pink Guernsey that I am working on.
July was a fallow month on the knitting front and I had lots of niggles running through my head. Putting the two together I believe if I had been doing more knitting I may have had less niggles???
I have made a concerted effort this month to do some knitting.
I am making a jumper. I have made this before (see my first post “a fresh start“) but it is quite a straight forward pattern, nothing too complicated π And at the end I will have a jumper for work in the winter π
Focusing on the rhythm of knit a row purl a row and then the routines of the cables is very soothing and I am noticing the difference at night, I am not going over those niggly little problems when I should be sleeping π°
However on the down side it is so damn hot at the moment! I am keeping above knitting wrapped up in an old towel (one from the rag bag, destined to be cut up for dusters) and I have to keep wiping the sweat off my hands on it. Knitting really isn’t a summer occupation!
I have also spent time sat by my leggy lavender whose scent is very soothing. I always associated lavender with old ladies. I have this rather neglected plant in the garden to attract bees but I am really appreciating it this year – will treat to some tlc at the end of the season π€
Anyway back to knit a row, wipe sweat off hands, purl a row…
I was a bit of a procrastinator last month. In fact I did very little yarn work but my stash only grew by a small pack of coloured yarn that was a free gift. Therefore I can say temptation did not get the better of me – I really must be off my game π
No new projects started in July but I did finish the honeycomb rim beanie and the blue baby cardi. Both of which I had been dabbling with for months so yay π
I have also been continuing with the Let’s Knit KAL although I do have a bit of catching up to do with thisπ
Work is keeping me busy but here is hoping that August will be more productive. I really need to empty my mind of the stress of work and daily survival and fill my mind with woolly thoughts – my goal for the month.
I have been working on a baby cardi for weeks. Progress has been slow because I have gone through a period of procrastination and work has been busy. It hasn’t helped that I made the same cardi immediately before this one either π€
But I sewed on the last button last night π
And here it is with its mate which I have shown in an earlier post. The eagle-eyed out there may have noticed an extra button on the pink one? I seem to have done a better job of spacing the buttonholes on the blue one – so there’s progress π
Anyway now that that is finished I am on the look out for a new project and hopefully I will get on and use up some of the stash…
So part 3 of the Let’s Knit nautical blanket became available at the beginning of July and part 4 is out on Thursday. I have nearly completed the blocks from the first and second release…
I am still behind and in need of a spurge of energy or something to catch up π€
I am quite pleased with my blocks so far although my colour block still curls a bit at the edges π
I could say it was breezy when I took the photo π¬ but I would be lying. My colourwork is always a bit tight π
I have been something of a lazy moo, neglecting my blog and all things woolly. No dent in the stash I am afraidπ₯ however, it has only grown by this much ‡
It was a free gift so not sure if that should really count π€
I have completed the honeycomb rim beanie
It makes for a very warm head so possibly only suitable for those really icy winter days β
Not much to show for the weeks that I have been AWOL! And what have I been doing? Well work has taken up a large chunk of my time and I have to admit to being hooked on Celebrity Masterchef – I will not be showing off my culinary disasters here you will be relieved to hear π
This is a rather tardy June round-up and will be rather short as I didn’t get up to much last month.
Work sort of took over last month and the sheer quantity got a bit overwhelming. The care and all the extra cleaning are ok but the constant bombardment of paperwork was a bit much. Hopefully things will be better this month.
I have completed one of my Aldi kits, still loads to do…. Meet Wally the Whale.
The box said make a friend which doesn’t say much for my social circle. He is a bit lumpy – I am not a great toy maker and have never really got the hang of stuffing.
But for Β£3.99 he is quite cute and kept my needles busy for a few hours π
Hallelujah I have completed the 2 trellis shell squares. Even though I completed a practice square (after numerous attempts) on old yarn I still had to do a lot of unpicking with the correct yarn.
So it is a six part project I have another windmill and another easy scallop to do as well as 2 waves and stripes, using colourwork.
Hoping to improve my skills but still not warming to lacework!! And not looking forward to the blocking at the end π
