STASH-BUSTING in 2021 #2

Every day is a school day…

Temptation got the better of me last night. I really needed a change so I thought I would have a go at some storage cosies, see Let’s Knit issue 166. My thought being something small and quick using bits from my stash.

The cabled cosy was the intermediate level cosy and it is covering a jam jar to make a decorative pot to store crochet hooks and small scissors. And I am quite pleased with it, so pleased in fact I thought I would have a go at the beginner’s cosy. Now I have been pulling my hair out with this one!!! It is a mock cable and quite frankly I am struggling! All that dropping and making stitches, what a faff much easier to do the cabling😉

ADDING TO THE STASH AGAIN!!!

Ooops. …

I am a bit of a lost cause – look what arrived today

I am trying to convince myself that this doesn’t really count as free gifts but I have my doubts as it still takes up space. I really must stop ticking the free gift box when on line!!!

Just got to think of something to do with it all before N throws me and my stash out 😅

STASH-BUSTING #42

Getting my knots in a twist !

Well there is a bit of progress on the tangle that was the yarn dug out of the stash yesterday. I have started the knotty cowl. There is a bit of faffing about but the results are quite pleasing.

Usual sections as if twisting and cabling but extra work on the bits that are doing the moving so that they can be knotted.

My photo doesn’t really do it justice!!!

Then carry on a bit until ready to do the next knot.

Not looking forward to weaving in all of the ends and being of a certain age I think I might find it rather hot to wear 😝

STASH-BUSTING #35

It has taken some time ….

I have been working on a baby cardi for weeks. Progress has been slow because I have gone through a period of procrastination and work has been busy. It hasn’t helped that I made the same cardi immediately before this one either 🤔

But I sewed on the last button last night 🙆

And here it is with its mate which I have shown in an earlier post. The eagle-eyed out there may have noticed an extra button on the pink one? I seem to have done a better job of spacing the buttonholes on the blue one – so there’s progress 😆

Anyway now that that is finished I am on the look out for a new project and hopefully I will get on and use up some of the stash…

SELF-HELP #21

Not doing very well 😕

Back in January I made a few lists of things I intended to get done in 2020 and all of my intentions were craft related. And so far I am quite pleased with my progress – I am plodding along quite nicely!

I decided back at the time that I was not going to set up myself up to fail by proposing weight loss or lots of exercise. So I have done very little in my free time other than woolly pursuits 😃

Now that the days are getting longer I am planning my walking regime and to get back in the garden – but not today as it is horribly windy out there🌬🌬🌬

And I really need to be doing something as my stash busting has hit a snag!!! Aldi have had a craft event, I thought I would pop in and just have a look! I came out with a bag full…. I have picked up a couple of kits and more yarn. The stash has grown! And I have added something else to the WIP list 🤔

STASH-BUSTING #11

And the goose is getting fat…

So no matter how much I try to ignore it the festive season is just around the corner.

Ding dong merrily on high 🎅

So I am using up red and white yarn. I love the simplicity of scandi patterns. I found the pattern for the hearts in an old issue of Knit Today (issue 91 Xmas 2013). The hearts are supposed to be done on dpns but I get into a bit of mess with them at the best of times so gave up with so few stitches. My hearts have a side seam….

The stocking is ready for a quiz night next week, this is taken from a Debbie Bliss pattern found in a Xmas Prima (2011). It is no wonder my house is such a state I don’t throw anything away!!!

I have just got to buy a load of Christmas tat to fill the stocking with so that the Parents Association can raffle it. I then have to make another one for my sister to raffle at a carols and mince pie evening 👼👼👼

Should get through a chunk of my red and white stash ♡♡♡

The WIPs are piling up…

Instead of finishing things I appear to be starting new things.

Current WIP list:

– baby blanket

– child’s hat (awaiting pom pom)

– child’s mittens

– 2 x wrist warmers

– scarf (scarf-gate continues)

– Christmas stocking

– pullover

I get so excited about a new project and put everything into it until something else comes along. Concentration span of a gnat, sadly not the work ethic of an ant, so easily distracted!!! 🐜🐜🐜

Missing in action…

It has been a while since my last post and my only excuse is that I am bone stinking idle, although I have been rather busy at work as well!

No blogging – GUILTY!

No knitting – NOT GUILTY!

I have been busy with preemy cardies, here are a few in various state of completion.

I am also in the process of knitting myself a jumper in double knitting. Lots of lovely cabling to keep me focused.

And just for fun. I help out at a group for young people and we made ghosts yesterday. I saw this in Prima magazine so me and the gang had a go and this is my effort 👻👻👻

Hopefully I will be more bloggy this month, fingers crossed 😆

STASH-BUSTING #7

Teeny-tiny ♡♡♡

Not a great deal to show for my dabbling with needles and hooks this week. I have used up some ends of colour lots on these tiny cardies. I will take them to my local knit and natter group on Monday to pass on to the premature baby unit.

The funny little rocket is a children’s craft project at my local museum. I popped in with a colleague yesterday and we asked if we could have a go they were so sweet. So we have both painted a rocket tea-light holder. I plan to put mine in the garden but not until the bad winds have stopped. I don’t want it being blown over and broken! We spent the afternoon making pom poms, sadly I left them with her so don’t have any pictures to share.

A very childish day I know but fun ☆☆☆
