January 2022 is almost over…
A belated Happy New Year. It has been a while, my WordPress subscription paid and I’ve done nothing with it! That’s what I usually do with gym subscriptions π
I got a bit overwhelmed towards the end of last year. Too many hours at work, the pile of WIPs became very daunting and everything seemed to be going backwards regarding the pandemic. But I’ve taken steps to sort myself out! I’m in the process of reducing my hours and responsibilities, I’ve taken up Yin Yoga which is helping me to focus and I have taken a look at the WIP s. π€
I also had some crafty gifts for Christmas to help me be more mindful

This came from Aldi from their make and mend range. It’s a printed little sampler but many of the stitches can be used to mend clothing – very clever! I am a huge fan of make-do and mend. So I have started on this, takes me back over forty years when my sister and I used attempt embroidering place mats and napkins π
So I hope to report progress soon and start whittling down my WIPs.
Woolly wishes,
Jane β‘β‘β‘
Mending seems to be a lost art. I mend as much as I can. Most people just take things to the cleaners— even for a button. Enjoy your sampler. Look forward to your WIPs.

I love Yin Yoga. I wish classes would start up again at my gym.

I’m quite new to yin but love the slower pace and sleep like a baby afterwards π

I enjoy embroidery but let me tell you, crewel is cruel! It is a much tinier version of embroidery! Lol
And, very hard on the eyes!

I’m so glad you’re back! The sampler looks wonderful (somehow, I never seem to see stuff like this at our ALDI), but it seems like a really clever way of learning or relearning mending stitches. It’s gonna be beautiful!!

Thank you Julia. I think my friends and family thought I needed to be more focused so I have a few crafty gifts. Amazing where they found them! Hope to show some progress soon π

Yep, life gets in the way sometimes. Been there. We do what we can when we can. Mending can seem like a chore for some reason. But once I get to mending the few things that have piled up, I always ask myself why didn’t I just do it right away? Usually not too much time is taken on one thing. So I have gotten better at mending the item almost right away and before a pile is started.

I know I’m showing my age but we were taught to mend things when I was at school, sadly no longer on the curriculum π€

Life and stress definitely got in the way of my crochet projects at the end of last year and this January when I normally do most of my work! Can totally relate. Hand in there and the baby blanket you just finished is really lovely.
P.S. I used to embroider all the time in middle and high school. Lots of tea towels π

Thank you. I bet the tea towels were fab and far too pretty to use π

I used my set. My grandma agreed with you for the longest time and kept the first set in a drawer for the longest time. By the time I gave her half of a second set she said they were made to be used! She didnβt have a dishwasher so literally started using them every day to dry her dishes. π₯°
