SEPTEMBER ROUND UP

Where is the year going…

Although I think 2020 will be the year I most want to forget!

I didn’t post as much last month so less drivel to wade through๐Ÿ˜‰

On the knitting front the Let’s Knit KAL is a couple of squares nearer completion.

I have done some baby knitting for a colleague at work who will become a grandma for the first time immently – always exciting news.

The pink Guernsey has a front, a back and one and a half sleeves. Need to get a crack on as the bad weather has arrived so not always possible to get laundry dry outside. Extra woollies are always a godsend ๐Ÿ˜‰

And talking about the laundry rope, the garden still looks like a building sight๐Ÿ˜‘ but the wild flower seeds I planted on the otherside of the fence came up, admittedly so did a lot of weeds as well๐Ÿค”

So now October has arrived time to start on the Christmas to do list.

This and That Thursday

Happy Thursday! I will be honest this week has focused mainly on teaching and studying but I have enjoyed both. So here is what else I have been up to. Walking Lots of walking this week which has been nice and quite exciting when we saw a low flying Chinook helicopter. Knitting For the first [โ€ฆ]

This and That Thursday

The Slivvers scarf kit was a gift from me. Sadly I was a bit late getting to Aldi so they had scarves from a couple of the houses and hats from a couple of houses. The only pair I could get was Slytherin (not sure if I have spelt that right being too old for Harry Potter) so look forward to seeing progress of the scarf and then the hat.

LKKNITALONG – WHAT A PRETTY STITCH!

Still plodding along …

The last part of the Let’s Knit nautical KAL is now available, it is fair to say I am lagging behind but still soldiering on ๐Ÿ˜‰

This square is called wave and pod I have completed both of them but they do need blocking, hence I have pegged it out on a branch to show the twists and cables.

The intarsia square has been put to one side and will remain there until the end I think.

Currently working on something called the oyster square which is really pretty but quite a faff! Lots of wrapping wool round the needle twice and dropping extra stitches and then working on multiple stitches at a time. Ok for a small square but I wouldn’t want to do a big piece of work in this, regardless of how pretty it is ๐Ÿค”

My efforts so far!

And the KAL goes on…

STASH-BUSTING #39

Wee winter woollies. ..

It has been a few weeks and the weather has changed from bright sunshine to blustery winds ๐ŸŒซ

A colleague at work is about to be a grandma so I have dipped into the stash and made a little hat

Will be bringing in the yoga frogs soon!

I have also made a little cardi. I love this pattern, I am sure some of you recognise it from previous posts?

The pink Guernsey is on hold at the mo and I am starting to make a Christmas to do list but I have not renewed my liability insurance as I will not be doing any craft stalls this year ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

STASH-BUSTING #38

A fish out of water ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ

Made this little chap last night:

Few ends of yarn, in fact the sewing up took longer than the knitting ๐Ÿ˜‰

The pattern came from Sarah Keen’s 100 Little Projects.

THE MINDFUL GARDENER

Or keeping him busy….

The garden is looking a bit like a building site at the moment. We have had new guttering as the old stuff was woefully leaky! This entailed moving lots of stuff around to get ladders and things in place to access the guttering.

Him indoors has also taken an interest in the garden since lockdown and has decided to build some raised beds. So we have planks of wood everywhere!

It is interesting trying to mow the lawn around this lot….

Hopefully in a week or 2 the boxes can be put in place ready to fill up with earth and then a few winter veggies. I am hoping that he doesn’t lose interest as gardening keeps him moving and occupied. Still if he does lose interest those boxes will look great filled with flowers! It is so important to keep busy during these uncertain times.

I have my knitting to keep me busy and, of course, I have worked through so other than I have saved a lot of money by not going out for coffee all the time my routine has not changed that much.

Hope you are all keeping safe and well.

PINCH PUNCH THE FIRST OF THE MONTH!!!

Back to work – gloomy face ๐Ÿ˜Œ

My Bay looks well.

My Honeysuckle is in berry

September is usually my favourite month of the year. A new start, fresh challenges and I am sure it will be once I get out there. Just that initial getting off my bum and getting stuck in. I have to keep telling myself put your knitting down Jane the hols are over!

Wish me luck!

AUGUST ROUND-UP

What a dollop of drivel….

I should probably apologise as you have all been inundated with fairly mindless posts from me. Hey I have had time off work so I have wanted the world to know what I have been up to. At least I spared you the today I boiled an egg post ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We went to Wales

I managed quite a bit of knitting. I have hit the half-way mark on the nautical KAL and I started a pink Guernsey this month. Front and back are complete and one of the sleeves is well underway. ๐Ÿค—

And look at my beautiful clematis that was in flower when I got back from Wales

I mowed the lawn yesterday in between tackling loads of holiday washing. So that is my August. Back to working tomorrow so sadly back to random blogging – I would like to think quality as opposed to quantity ๐Ÿ˜‚

For those of you enjoying a bank holiday weekend I hope you are having a fabulous time and to everyone stay safe.

LKKNITALONG – DOOM AND GLOOM!!!

Some frogging was needed ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I have completed half the squares for the nautical blanket – yay! I started on the intarsia square on the last evening of my hols.

It should be a neutral background with a navy anchor. Have to admit I have never really got to grips with this type of colour work. I much prefer to weave in the colours on the reverse as I find myself having to sew up holes when I am sewing in my ends ๐Ÿค”

As can be seen from the above photo I haven’t got that far into the square, it has curled up and I had a real tangle of yarn and guess what I made a mistake and hadn’t noticed for four rows. Normally I would carefully unpick each row until I had worked my way back to the mistake but the yarn was in such a robble that I made the decision that it all had to go ๐Ÿ™„

I now have half a dozen little balls of yarn, all neatly wound up. I have bought the next issue today and the next squares are single colour – one cabled the other a bit lacy. I am going to put off the intarsia for a while ๐Ÿ˜‰

I hope that your holiday projects are going better than mine?

Woolly wishes,

STASH-BUSTING #37

Home and the sun has come out ๐ŸŒž

But at least the holiday washing will dry quickly ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I completed the front of my jumper while away. Now I am home and able to access my stash I will be able to start on the sleeves.

I am quite pleased with the cabled yoke and look forward to feeling nice and snug while wearing it in the winter. And the knit goes on ๐Ÿ˜‰

Woolly wishes,
