CAMPER CRAFTS

Chevron blanket

I have tried to set up a separate page for things relating to Lucia the camper but have failed miserably.

Lucia is currently at the garage having her brakes sorted – a sort of spa break for campers!!!

I have started a throw for her:

I am using DK acrylic yarn (I won it last year) and a 4 mm hook. I possibly should have used a 4.5 mm hook as there is a slight ruffle but I wanted a tight dense fabric so some careful blocking will be required when I have finished.

Having fun with zig zags!

WINDING UP JUNE!

Flaming and raining…

June seems to have flown by. All of my excitement at the end of May has waned. Work has been incredibly busy and I barely feel as if I survived the month but I have a few days off now to recharge and get back on track 😎

I have sold one item at the craft shop so a long way from making a profit but thrilled that someone liked it enough to pay for it.

I have started a baby blanket in white (a divine bamboo and cotton mix) which I am working on when I have the energy to focus but the rest of the time I am playing around with bits of yarn and a hook with the intent of making a blanket for Lucia N’s little camper.

And my nephew finally sent me a photo of him modelling the cable knit that I recently sent him. πŸ˜†

So bring on July, I’m looking for energy and inspiration! !!

WIP WIP HOORAY 2

The finale…

It fits πŸ€—

Remember the Aran cable-knit that was posted to my nephew well here he is wearing it and it fits. So pleased. Haven’t seen him in a few years but hopefully soon.

A very happy knitter😊

BAMBOO ON BAMBOO…

But what about the pandas 🐼🐼🐼

I have started a baby blanket in white for a friend who is going to be a grandma later this year. The pattern is an old Sublime pattern that I have used before and shown off on this space.

Progress so far…

So difficult trying to prevent white from looking grubby.

I am using my bamboo needles and a bamboo and cotton mix yarn. It is sooo soft. I really feel the urge to work a shawl or a scarf in it in the future as it is doing a good job of draping so far.

More to follow I’m sureπŸ˜‰

STASH-BUSTING IN 2021 #18

Swatching. ..

My next big project is going to be a crocheted throw for Lucia the camper. Now I’m not a natural hooker but I would much prefer to do something in one piece and I don’t think I have knitting needles long enough to hold all the stitches that I need πŸ€”

So I have been experimenting with stitch combos

As can be seen these haven’t been blocked but I’m just practising the hook movements. I quite like the trebles with the raised circles but think that might be a bit ambitious plus my maths may not be up to the task of working out the spacing evenly. I really got my knickers in a twist with the basket weave stitch but thought I could manage the chevron.

Obviously that is only a tiny chevron so ta dah

A bee kindly obliged and visited the clematis while I was taking this snap. I returned the favour and waited until he had finished before removing my chevrons!

I have done a few rows to give me an idea of stitches/width and blocked it. So my throw is going to be all ziggy and zaggyπŸ˜‰

MORE REPURPOSED JARS AND YARN…

I really need to get out more πŸ˜‰

Still on the look out for the inspiration for my next big project. In the meantime I have been making more cosies for old jam and pickle jars.

Though I say it myself I am quite pleased with these. Super chunky yarn on chunky needles worked in garter stitch. You may recognise the yarn from the toy basket I made a couple of months ago.

So great way of using up old bits of yarn and I should have the tidiest desk in town with all of the desk tidies I have been making but sadly it just looks cluttered with desk tidies πŸ˜‚

Anyway I have decided I need something to get my teeth (or needles) into so I am going to start a blanket for Lucia the camper. I’ve got a bag of little balls of DK that was free with magazines so I’m going to use that up. It will be a real mishmash of colours but it will be a great stash buster πŸ˜‹

HAPPY BLOG DAY πŸŽ‚

Changing the world one stitch at a time…

I have reached my second blogiversary this weekend. Two years of the trials and tribulations of a yarnophile and would-be hooker.

A huge thank you to everyone for reading my drivel and for all of the advice and support offered over the months, it really is appreciated.

Here’s to another year 🍷🍷🍷

A NEW PROJECT

For Jane and N…

N retires this summer and has bought himself a project 😊

Yes this little camper. Her name is Lucia.

Obviously there will be an endless list of jobs to be getting on with but I am really excited as I have decided on my next big project.

Crocheted blankets and cushions! Yay!!!

So I’m busy rooting through my stash to get started.

No big trips this year but hopefully a couple of nights away.

WOOL THERAPY

Or Storage Wars…

I have taken to crocheting little baskets as a means of de-stressing. There is a bit of a history in basket making and the troubled mind. In the grim days of institutions for those suffering with their mental health a key therapy was basket weaving! Admittedly they were proper baskets made with willow not my woolly numbers.

A single brown basket and a cluster of blue/yellow baskets

The multi-colour jumble contains 3 storeage baskets.

Mummy, Daddy and Baby BasketπŸ˜‰

If nothing else my double crochet stitches are improving and I have worked out counting for the round. I have used aran weight yarn from the stash and a 4mm hook to give a tighter weave.

Over the weeks I have made quite a few of these and now I am running out of things to put in them πŸ˜„

WINDING UP MAY

Gosh what a lot of rain β˜”β˜”β˜”

I have just read through my May posts as my brain seems to be a bit of a blank as to May mayhem!

On the whole I had quite a productive month and finally finished the cable knit WIP WIP HOORAY! But that means I am on the look out for a new project to get my teeth intoπŸ˜„

I’m still interested in bags and storeage which has been a fun way to improve my stitch knowledge. My efforts have been quite organic as I have been making the shape up as I go along so I only need to concentrate on the stitches – very mindful!

A string thing!

And I am still making woolly covers for jam and pickle jars to turn them into attractive desk tidies πŸ˜‰

Mustard and aubergine repurposed jars!

And my really exciting news I have some of my items are for sale at a local craft hub HS ART 😊

So the new month sees me on the look out for a new project…

Woolly wishes,
