We brought everything up from the bottom of the garden because of the flooding.
Pictures taken from my lounge window. I have walked to the petrol station this morning to get a loaf of bread, not what we would normally eat but Bewdley bridge is currently closed to traffic and pedestrians. Beggars can’t be choosers!!!
I sat on that bench to drink coffee last Saturday!
Bewdley bridge built by Thomas Telford back in the day is closed to traffic for obvious reasons!
The flood defences are being defended!
And look at my garden!
The river is due to peak here in Bewdley late tomorrow night or early Sunday morning. And they are currently saying that the river will be higher than it was last February π£
I dragged this out yesterday afternoon, not because I am particularly fond of it or the old wood inside it but if it floats away over the fence it will be a piece of single-use plastic further down the river!
The river breached the flood defences the other night and neighbours round the corner have been evacuated!
I am cheering myself up by packing my gift for the baby shower on Saturday β‘β‘β‘
Apparently there could be another 10 days of this βββ
My week off started today. My plan was to make a start clearing up the mess in the garden but it has rained all morning and I am a fair weather gardener!!! However, I am glad I didn’t make a start as the river is rising again and guess what it is in the garden again π£ really is getting rather boring…
So to keep myself amused I dug out a baby blanket that I keep listing on my WIP list but do nothing about. I think it last appeared on my blog in the autumn. Anyway celebration time π»π»π» I have just finished it πππ
Rhubarb and custard baby blanket β‘
Feeling quite pleased that it is done but I am already thinking about colour combos for another one…
If the weather continues like this I will have no WIPs left or maybe that is just a bit of wishful thinking on my part π€
I have never been keen on the name Dennis but gone off it even more since they have named a storm with it.
The river has risen again! !!
I have got a bit of clearing up to do when it goes down π£
And the river is still rising. Happily the house is quite high up and there are good flood defences here but my heart goes out to those who aren’t as lucky as us.
Hoping the weather is better with you all. It is absolutely dreadful here. All I want to do is stay in the warm and dry and do my knitting – no change there then!!! π
Thursday I had the school run and it took forever to get home so many roads were closed due to flooding π¨π¨π¨
School quiz night last night so the Xmas stocking was duly stuffed with Christmas tat and offered as a raffle prize. I have started knitting one for my sister to use for her carols and mince pie evening. The people in my team were quite clever (luckily for me) but we fell on our face in the “Fun with Flags” round. I hadn’t even heard of half the countries let alone know what their flags looked like!!π€
So the river is rising again but not in the garden yet, although the flood defences are up in town. Surely there can’t be any more rain up there???
We have a water feature at the bottom of the garden. Not so long ago I planted a load of bulbs on the otherside of the fence – I don’t hold out much hope!!!
Our water feature!
Peaking over next couple of days and then clear up the mess. Glad I saved the grass seed for the spring….
