STASH-BUSTING IN 2021 #6

well not really as I have a new addition to the stash…

Look what arrived today, she writes shaking with excitement πŸ˜€

Eleven balls of Patons wool blend aran (63% wool). I am embarking on an aran cable-knit jumper for my nephew. I have gone for a wool mix because of the laundry πŸ˜ƒ

N is pulling his hair out at I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday going through my yarn jumble. So when this arrived this morning he nearly dropped his cuppa…

I also potted up a planter with primulas and tete a tete which I’m hoping will look pretty for Mothering Sunday ⚘⚘⚘

My fingers are tingling as I’m very keen to get my new project on my needles. Progress will be sharedπŸ˜‚

Woolly wishes,

  1. As much as I love working in wool, the parents want easy to wash — so I buy blends as well and also washable wool. But feel like I’m breaking some sacred knitting sacrament when I do. I look forward to seeing your project!

    1. Thank you Lisa. I’m not sure my nephew knows how to follow washing instructions, in fact I think he throws it all in together so needs to be fairly indestructible πŸ˜„

    1. Well I’m hoping that the next lot I buy will be from a shop in which case I can resort to my usual habit of leaving it in the boot of the car until he goes out when I can sneak it in and hide it πŸ˜‚

  2. Just gotta ask: are you in the UK? Noticed you refer to the car ‘trunk’ as a boot – usually English/Irish/Scots reference. The flowers are gorgeous and I can sense your excitement about the yarn!

  3. It is so sensible to use washable yarn for baby things. I made my first grandson a beautiful blanket in superwash merino. I was so pleased with it and it was complimented in the hospital and in his pram. Then she washed it and put it in the dryer – I could cry now just thhinking about it, but it was my fault. I didn’t give her clear washing instructions – hence my current habit of ‘Give it back to me for washing’ to all recipients. Though I do use blended yarn now. That looks gorgeous by the way. πŸ™‚

    1. LOL my nephew is 31 this year and as he lives over 400 miles away I won’t be offering to launder it – he’s on his own πŸ˜‹ I am quite pleased with how this is starting. Progress shot at the weekend when there is enough to photograph ❀️

  4. I am enjoying your blog about knitting…
I have been trying to get my wool stash made into an Afghan… it doesn’t look anything like the diagram but it’s original and I’m liking the look of it 😊
