Just as I was congratulating myself on only 5 squares to go I have spotted a boo boo ๐
The Crest of a wave square
This sequence is worked over 12 rows and I have worked it over 14 rows on the fourth sequence ๐ That will teach me to do an extra few rows before bedtime ๐ค So I will be starting my day with a bit of frogging. At least it wasn’t the first sequence….
But before that a nice cup of tea. A good strong builders brew to set me up for the trials and tribulations of the new day.
The last part of the Let’s Knit nautical KAL is now available, it is fair to say I am lagging behind but still soldiering on ๐
This square is called wave and pod I have completed both of them but they do need blocking, hence I have pegged it out on a branch to show the twists and cables.
The intarsia square has been put to one side and will remain there until the end I think.
Currently working on something called the oyster square which is really pretty but quite a faff! Lots of wrapping wool round the needle twice and dropping extra stitches and then working on multiple stitches at a time. Ok for a small square but I wouldn’t want to do a big piece of work in this, regardless of how pretty it is ๐ค
I should probably apologise as you have all been inundated with fairly mindless posts from me. Hey I have had time off work so I have wanted the world to know what I have been up to. At least I spared you the today I boiled an egg post ๐
We went to Wales
I managed quite a bit of knitting. I have hit the half-way mark on the nautical KAL and I started a pink Guernsey this month. Front and back are complete and one of the sleeves is well underway. ๐ค
And look at my beautiful clematis that was in flower when I got back from Wales
I mowed the lawn yesterday in between tackling loads of holiday washing. So that is my August. Back to working tomorrow so sadly back to random blogging – I would like to think quality as opposed to quantity ๐
For those of you enjoying a bank holiday weekend I hope you are having a fabulous time and to everyone stay safe.
I have completed half the squares for the nautical blanket – yay! I started on the intarsia square on the last evening of my hols.
It should be a neutral background with a navy anchor. Have to admit I have never really got to grips with this type of colour work. I much prefer to weave in the colours on the reverse as I find myself having to sew up holes when I am sewing in my ends ๐ค
As can be seen from the above photo I haven’t got that far into the square, it has curled up and I had a real tangle of yarn and guess what I made a mistake and hadn’t noticed for four rows. Normally I would carefully unpick each row until I had worked my way back to the mistake but the yarn was in such a robble that I made the decision that it all had to go ๐
I now have half a dozen little balls of yarn, all neatly wound up. I have bought the next issue today and the next squares are single colour – one cabled the other a bit lacy. I am going to put off the intarsia for a while ๐
I hope that your holiday projects are going better than mine?
A bit of progress to report. I have completed the toggle knot squares and I am now working on a textured waves square.
I am quite enjoying this square. Although it has holes from decreases and making stitches it is not as lacy and fiddly as the previous lacy square. Quite a nice little rhythm to the stitches ๐
However I am still an issue behind and the new one is out today so better get a move on.
So part 3 of the Let’s Knit nautical blanket became available at the beginning of July and part 4 is out on Thursday. I have nearly completed the blocks from the first and second release…
I am still behind and in need of a spurge of energy or something to catch up ๐ค
I am quite pleased with my blocks so far although my colour block still curls a bit at the edges ๐
I could say it was breezy when I took the photo ๐ฌ but I would be lying. My colourwork is always a bit tight ๐
This is a rather tardy June round-up and will be rather short as I didn’t get up to much last month.
Work sort of took over last month and the sheer quantity got a bit overwhelming. The care and all the extra cleaning are ok but the constant bombardment of paperwork was a bit much. Hopefully things will be better this month.
