STASH-BUSTING 2021

Posted yesterday, received today so I can show and tell…

The chunky cardi is off my needles and away 😃 I have actually made 2 of these for N’s daughters. Sadly one of the girls had a bit of a wait for her’s but I finished it on Saturday, blocked Sunday and posted yesterday🎁

I bought some better hangers for Show and Tell purposes but N and B have squirreled them away for their own outfits – BOYS! So I had to make do with one that the dry-cleaning came back on 😣 It doesn’t hang that well🤔

The pattern came from Let’s Knit and is made using Stylecraft chunky, parchment. The pattern is worked over 10 rows:

Rows 1-3 Knit, rows 4, 6, 8, 10 k2, p5, rows 5, 7, 9 Knit

The nice thing about chunky knits is they knit up quickly although as I was nearing the end not quickly enough. And then there was the issue of buttons!!! Happily I bought enough when my local wool shop was open between lockdown 2 and 3!!!

Celebration time, all ready for packing up and posting 🎈🎈🎈

A couple more items to finish and then the Christmas knitting is all done and then I can fill my head with something new 😄 But my knitting basket looks almost empty now the chunky cardi has gone😉

Woolly wishes,

Jane ♡♡♡

A BLUE SKY IN JANUARY

another winter walk…

Not a serious walk today. Just an amble round Bewdley and a coffee by the river. So good to get some fresh air and feel sunshine on my face.

Look at the blue blue sky reflected in the lily pond in Jubilee Gardens. A day when it feels good to be alive.

Woolly wishes,

Jane ❤️❤️❤️

JANUARY 12th

Another winter walk and a surprise gift 😊

The paths were very muddy this morning when I went on my walk. The cows and rather cute calves had had their breakfast and had moved further into the field to graze. Not sure where the sheep were hiding. No herons or kestrels today. Even the gulls were noticeable by their absence. However, the sky was blue and the air was fresh and I feel so much better for getting out.

And on my return look what the postie had dropped off

It was my birthday at the weekend and this was a gift from my sister. A great bag to pack knitting clutter in (N says it’s not big enough!!!) and a new mug for my favourite brew😉

Not sure about “crazy knitting lady” though 🤔

And on the knitting front I am on the final sleeve – the end is in sight! A bit of show and tell soon!

Woolly wishes,

Jane ♡♡♡

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING WOOLLY…

Another winter walk

A very muddy walk yesterday but frosty and crisp today. Sadly the sheep wouldn’t come closer to the fence for a close up🤔

The sheep are the only woolly things I am showing as I am still plodding on with the Christmas knitting and the recipients read this from time to time. But hopefully I will have something to show next weekend😆

Anyway back to my walk. Lovely crisp morning. As well as the usual swans, geese and ducks I saw a heron on the river bank. Sadly he flew away before I had taken my gloves off and got my phone out to take a photo. There was a bird of prey, a kestrel I think, near the sheep but he was camera shy🙄

And then there were the cows and calves having breakfast. Very cute calves.

I think this one’s mum was checking he had been cleaning behind his ears 😉

Home now. Time for a nice cup of tea and do a bit of housework. Hope you all have a nice relaxing Sunday.

Woolly wishes,

Jane ♡♡♡

A SURPRISE ROUND THE CORNER

The rest of my walk…

I was at work all day yesterday so no chance of a walk or any fresh air unless you count taking the bins out 😉

So thoughts went back to my mooch around Jubilee Gardens on Wednesday and look at the other chainsaw sculpture I found.

What a handsome hare!

And that makes the pair!

Many thanks to Julia at Words and Stitches for taking the trouble to Google the wood sculptures in Jubilee Gardens, thanks to her I know a bit more about my little town. It just goes to show you don’t know what you have on your doorstep.

I have the weekend off now so my plans are to get on with the knitting and a few more walks to find more Bewdley treasures.

Woolly wishes,

Jane ♡♡♡

THE NEW NORMAL AGAIN

Another winter walk…

We had hail this morning which was a worry as I had to drive later in the day but it didn’t amount to much happily🌊

I just had a stroll into Bewdley today and a mooch around Jubilee Gardens.

The apple Orchard is having its winter rest.

How’s that for a giant apple core? Someone has had fun with a chain saw😉

I have never really spent much time in Jubilee Gardens, after all I have a garden why would I want to spend time in a public garden!!! But like many I am sure it is nice to have some different views. I will share my favourite spot in the Gardens for tomorrow.

So it was off home afterwards to make a pot of soup with whatever I could find in the fridge and some cheesy slaw, made with red cabbage. Looks a bit of an eye sore but really tasty.

No time for knitting today as off to work.

Woolly wishes,

Jane ♡♡♡

INTO LOCKDOWN AGAIN!

A winter walk 🌫🌫🌫

The big announcement that most of us were expecting was made last night – another lockdown to contain and control COVID!

I have worked from home today doing admin. Not one of my strong points!! However I did take a break at lunch time for a walk. I didn’t want to leave it until I had finished because it would be dark and very cold.

The river is slowly going down.

The gulls are all lined up on the riverside railings. I don’t know if that means that the weather is bad on the coast or that they are too well-fed inland? Probably the latter!!! I lived in Morecambe (an English seaside town) when I was a student and this reminds me of Morecambe in the winter, no one around and lots of gulls waiting for some unsuspecting soul to get takeaway fish and chips😮

Finally I had a walk around Jubilee Gardens and just look at this rose in winter – very Beauty and the Beast!

So a bit more admin and then I can get back to my knitting. Still plodding on with my Christmas knits, so tempting to start something new – I really do have the attention span of a gnat – but if I do the Christmas gifts will be written off until next year so plod on Jane 😄

A FAVOURITE GIFT

The scarf that never lets me down!

It’s quite chilly here at the moment and we keep having the odd flurry of snow, happily after last week they haven’t amounted to much ☃

Walked into town this morning to get some fresh air and pick up a newspaper.

I took this photo to show off my scarf. It must be 20 years old. My much younger sister made it for me when she was still at school. She does more reading these days than knitting, check out ladybookdragon.

Such a shame!

Look at this scarf, isnt it fab? Worked in garter stitch with 4 little tassels at the corners. I understand she got bored of making them 😂

But it keeps me nice and snug.

Who else has a favourite gift that has stood the test of time?

Woolly wishes,

Jane ♡♡♡

DECEMBER ROUND-UP

2020 done and dusted. ..

Happy New Year to you all! 🍻

I was very quiet on the blogging and knitting front during December. We are into a new year and I am still plodding on with my Christmas knitting 😶 My bad back has really set me back but happily I am much more mobile now and can sit for longer and knit yay…

Nothing completed in December so sadly no show and tell.

The river was rising just before Christmas.  It is slowly going down, leaving very muddy footpaths along the banks. We have had snow this morning but not enough to cause problems.

And just look how close to the river wall the swans are …

Resolutions :

Finish the Christmas knitting and get it posted with suitably grovelling notes.

Pay more attention to blogville.

Woolly wishes,

Jane ♡♡♡

CHRISTMAS WISHES

An empty Christmas stocking…

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas day. It was very quiet here and the river is going down a bit. However there is more rain on the horizon so no doubt it will go up again 🌨

I have had a lot of lovely gifts.

I have a very pretty felted garland and hand felted soap, all from the Welsh Woolshed – must look them up in the new year.

And a mini knitting kit from Santa 🎅

A little cup cosy, that will make for a pleasant evening in the new year.

Still battling on with my Christmas knitting. A couple of my gifts will be arriving in the new year.

Woolly wishes,

Jane ♡♡♡
