Since Lockdown and the ensuing restrictions I have been so good 👼 Other than the wool for the Let’s Knit KAL and some freebie packs of wool I have not been adding to the stash. In fact everything that I have made has originated from the stash she says ever so righteously 🤗
However, this week I have bought some chunky yarn to make an ever so comfy chunky cardi, well that’s what it says on the pattern!!!
Worked over 10 rows there is just enough to keep the mind occupied and isn’t it great how quickly chunky weight knits up – instant gratification 😉
And why aren’t I using yarn from my stash? For the simple reason I am not a fan of chunky yarn as a rule so don’t get tempted. Aran weight is my main weakness! However I saw this pattern and as there isn’t a vaccination yet for COVID looks like a lot of time will be spent in well-ventilated locations this winter so best be prepared with something woolly 😄
I have baby gifts to make for February. A little boy who will be a couple of months old mid month when my sister goes to visit and I have been invited to a Baby Shower at the end of the month, the expected baby is a little girl.
I have started making a little Guernsey style jersey for the little boy (a very Channel Island inspired sentence).
I am quite pleased because this is yarn from my stash. I am always picking up baby wool because you never know when you might need it but a little goes a long way when you are making cute little baby things.
Now I should be throwing a party using up some of my stash 🎈🎈🎈 but it was my birthday last week and those lovely people at Hobbycraft sent me a £5 voucher so I had to pop in to spend it. I bought a couple of balls of end of line aran wool which I will make some hats with for next year’s Christmas stall. My purchase came to £13 so their marketing ploy worked!!!
My little blog is 6 months old. Said blog was actually opened on 4 June with the natty little post that WordPress gave me. But my first post “A fresh start” was on the seventh.
I have been wearing that sweater quite a lot recently. Nice and warm and comfy. Not sure colour is really me but design is great. Might make myself another one in a more flattering colour. Why did I make myself a sweater in a colour that wasn’t really me, well I had the yarn knocking around and didn’t want it to go to waste!!!
Anyway back to my Blog Day. The last six months have been fab. I have loved reading everyone’s posts. You are all so talented ♡♡♡
And having to put posts together has kept me on task because let’s face it we have to have something to post about. I have wanted to do a Christmas stall for a long time and thanks to blogging I did one.
It has been a fun six months, here’s to the next six 🍾🍾🍾
Hoping the weather is better with you all. It is absolutely dreadful here. All I want to do is stay in the warm and dry and do my knitting – no change there then!!! 😆
Thursday I had the school run and it took forever to get home so many roads were closed due to flooding 🌨🌨🌨
School quiz night last night so the Xmas stocking was duly stuffed with Christmas tat and offered as a raffle prize. I have started knitting one for my sister to use for her carols and mince pie evening. The people in my team were quite clever (luckily for me) but we fell on our face in the “Fun with Flags” round. I hadn’t even heard of half the countries let alone know what their flags looked like!!🤔
So the river is rising again but not in the garden yet, although the flood defences are up in town. Surely there can’t be any more rain up there???
I have made a little hat and some mittens to pop into a shoe box with some other bits and pieces for church to send off for this year’s appeal. The hat and mitts are made using aran weight wool so hopefully nice and cozy.
There is still time to do a shoe box. The following link will tell you all about it and lists what you can put in your shoe box.
