STASH-BUSTING IN 2022

Back to the stash…

My posts have been few and far between over the last few months and now I have Covid!!! I have been positive for the last 8 days and I’m really fed up. At least the weather is nice so I have spent a lot of time sat in the garden looking at all the jobs that need doing but really not having the energy to do them😣

I have delved into the stash and found some Oxford blue aran that I bought from Aldi a few years ago and on my pattern shelf I found a pattern that I bought for the princely sum of a penny when Littlewoods was closing down (and that really was years ago) so I am combining the two to keep myself occupied.

I can’t think why I bought Oxford blue because it’s so dark it’s nearly black and hence very tough on the old eyes!!! Just as well the weather is good as I’ve been knitting in the garden in natural light, much kinder to the eyes.

What has everyone else got languishing in their stash I wonder?

SELF-HELP 2022 NO.1

Fingers crossed that this is the first of many ..

As I have already said friends and family gifted me some very mindful gifts for Christmas 🎄

And as I have already said I received a sampler from Aldi

So so far I have done : quite a few French knots; satin stitch; stem stitch; back stitch and blanket stitch.

This takes me back forty years and I have to say I am enjoying the memories of working on printed linen.

BLANKET BULLETIN 2022

A long time coming…

Finally finished the baby blanket started last summer. The recipient will be too big for it but perhaps he has a teddy who will like it 🤔

I used a King Cole bamboo with cotton yarn which is lovely to work with and drapes really nicely.

As I have already said I have had a break from the needles due to failing mojo but perking up now and it does feel good to get a WIP off my needles. Hopefully more completed WIPs to follow 😋

BACK ON TRACK!!!

January 2022 is almost over…

A belated Happy New Year. It has been a while, my WordPress subscription paid and I’ve done nothing with it! That’s what I usually do with gym subscriptions 😉

I got a bit overwhelmed towards the end of last year. Too many hours at work, the pile of WIPs became very daunting and everything seemed to be going backwards regarding the pandemic. But I’ve taken steps to sort myself out! I’m in the process of reducing my hours and responsibilities, I’ve taken up Yin Yoga which is helping me to focus and I have taken a look at the WIP s. 🤔

I also had some crafty gifts for Christmas to help me be more mindful

This came from Aldi from their make and mend range. It’s a printed little sampler but many of the stitches can be used to mend clothing – very clever! I am a huge fan of make-do and mend. So I have started on this, takes me back over forty years when my sister and I used attempt embroidering place mats and napkins 😉

So I hope to report progress soon and start whittling down my WIPs.

WINDING UP OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER

Where has the time gone…

I have had a few more months not doing much on the Woolly Wednesday front. Only a couple of posts and not too much woolly work.

Here I am with my little helper!

Our little cat is growing and is getting better when the knitting comes out thanks to a few spritzes 😉

I have given up my shelf in the shop because I just haven’t had the time to keep my stock up. I did do a stall at a local church hall last week which was fun and I made a few sales. Still get a buzz when people want to buy something that I have made ❤

Planning to be a lot more organised and motivated in December. I might even pay attention to WordPress reminders to post something. Really don’t know why I set them because all I do is ignore them 🤔

Hoping you are all better prepared than I am for the forthcoming holidays.

WINDING UP SEPTEMBER!

At the end of October….

No knitting or other woolly pursuits to report on.

The culprit….

Maro the menace is the reason why. He can hear a pair of needles from miles away 😥 No wool therapy for me!!!

He’s had all of his injections now so is allowed in the garden under supervision. Now our garden has been left to its own devices this summer, the bees have loved it. Maro enoys chasing bugs but has been known to get carried away. Currently I have had to rescue him from a tree and the shed roof 😉 And this morning he gave his hind quarters a dip in the frog pool, the toad who lives there was not happy 🐸

I’m hoping to lock myself away with my needles for a day or two as I finally have some time off work. With any luck I will have something to show and tell soon😊

WINDING UP AUGUST

Feline fun and frolics….

August hasn’t been the most productive month due to the arrival of the little tyrant

I’m sure she hasn’t noticed I’ve purloined this!

My blanket WIPS are still works in progress because there is just too much work to protect and the needles drive him wild!

I have managed a few bags on my hook which doesn’t drive him to distraction and there is only a small amount of work to protect! But look what I found in his basket…

So I am busily hiding things around the house😉

On a brighter note Lucia the camper has finally had her brakes sorted. They were ordered from Germany and then got stuck in customs only to be the wrong ones. Finally sourced some from Italy 😎

So bring on September and let the good times roll!

CAMPER CAPERS

Trying her out for size. ..

I know today is Thursday but it’s been a bit of a hectic week! Last Saturday N and I took Lucia to a field and checked her out for size.

The brakes are fixed, she’s had a full service and she has had some waterproofing underneath 😉

I rather like her 1970s interior but N feels she needs new covers, he’s not a fan of brown 😔

The roof is being held up with some clips as the gas joints need replacing. But all very exciting. We are hoping to do a couple of festivals next year and I’ve got her lined up for some craft fairs 😄

The afternoon was also spent blackberry ing so came home very scratched and stained but apple and blackberry crumble for tea 😚

STASH-BUSTING #23

More string things….

The kitten has allowed me to do a bit of hooking so I have been perfecting my string bags. Sadly the ends of my knitting needles drive him wild so avoiding those at the moment. I have hissed at him as recommended by my kayaking friend but he just looks bemused and then has another go😉 Avoidance is my current policy….
